Most view social responsibility is family obligation, holidays at the least. I started my career at SRJC Fall of 1980 by standing up in Chemistry 1A making a demonstration to care about the environment in a warning about Love Canal. Love Canal was reported in media as chemical dumping causing birth defects in high numbers in that community.

From the same inspiration point family perhaps as Global Warming, I was completely appropriate advocating to engineering, science, and doctors students to care about externalities and not want chemical dumping.

Caring about the big picture through writing and government service I kept up with social responsibility in my methods all my life. SRJC instructors appeared to work on being close to a homosexual center of SanFran. Econ quoted Milton Friedman for businesses to do business as their social responsibility, without regard to kindness, understanding, or human rights.

We may have encouraged global changes right from our JC.
