Learning James Marshall discovered gold at Sutter's Mill back in 1848 and died penniless as a miner after a hard life is not fit for modern standards except for thievery and crudity. The Marshall Plan after WWII showed U.S. generosity and rebuilding cultures along with forgiveness. God forbid what Reagan era business college students meant with full knowledge of California history and asking an inventor and writer which "Marshall Plan" he wanted. The creator may have answered the California One due to ignorant parochialism. Reform in many fields, from authentically worded politicians to teachers who develop many different curriculum, is necessary to reward the original talent to increase national character, trust and a greater innovative spirit to add to the quality that is California and the US.
