Patient as Political Prisoner of Conscious

The movie Flash of Genius depicts one man's fight for what's right and his own wealth against intellectual property theft by industrialists. Being sent due to circumstances to a mental treatment facility until he gives up this fight makes a prisoner of conscience that sometimes occurs to patients today. Treating an epic challenge to be right in the same vein by society as the private alcoholic's struggles results in natural consequences of fighting battles alone like losing a marriage and living a lower standard of living.

Glastnos, Perestroika, More Moral

What I remember from Gorbachev and President Reagan's working together in the 1980s was the former Soviet leader stating we all needed openness and restructuring and Reagan saying, "I know we're more moral" here in the US. The field and personality of mental health care and treatment is the place to most apply these 3 traits to implement a stronger and more improved social challenge we face. We have progressed in treating and accepting psychiatric disabilities from years past.

Roommate Law and Civil Harassment

Blog topics:
The subject of Roommate Law needs a guiding, understandable code with law enforcement back up. A funny, small time movie of yesteryear called behavior of pranksterish psychological warfare on acquaintances "effing you." Dealing out consequences or punishments to people whose behavior is not liked by adults sharing a home is not a big concern of "smile police." Fighting or moving on are not the only tools for independent living. The Sonoma County District Attorney will enforce Civil Harassment paperwork that is available to those not in dating relationships.

Trying to Change, the Cautious, and Accomplishments

Blog topics:
In a squabble between public agencies, the official administering of working together creates a "lead agency" trying to make improvements and a "responsible agency" providing a foundation of status quo. This dynamic is a more cautious set of rules guiding or obstructing a change agent. This facet of organizations can be exemplified by the internal workings of the Methodist Church or the building of a new public school with additional traffic measures on the streets.

Work Plus Proof for Professionals and Consumers

Blog topics:
Hard pressed to find rare examples of mental health recovery, a first hand proof is success of Work Plus. Working enough for independent living without supervision is what I call Work Plus recovery, without regard to feelings in the Social Security bureaucracy tradition. Similar in a finer vein was working 2 full time equivalents (1 FTE is 40 hours a week) 2 weeks in a row, making a busy business owner who additionally spent time developing products for his own private sole proprietorship. Calling myself a union sleeper with business & sales executive duties has funny connotations.

Loyalty

Blog topics:
Behavior out of a sense of loyalty can follow emotions of bonding or it can damage potential relationships by blocking feelings that are not explored. Loyalty can add to love, parochial interests, and patriotism in a healthy manner. Today's interpersonal and economic climate of "what's in it for me" can cut off relations with negative or toxic people like the sick. For a gentler and kinder nation, families and close connections need to invest in Emotional Banking Units with the disabled as keepers.

Father's Day is meant for "My One Who Is"

Blog topics:
Like a Supreme Court Justice saying, "I am my father's son," we each need to develop meaning from whoever is our father. A close bond can develop the younger person fully in current times, particularly at certain stages of development. A distant relationship emotionally and/or geographically can be intended by the father to generate a tough background some say is necessary for importance. A father that abandons his children or is of unknown parentage to them can lead the children to seek the world through less intense direction, and people will discover if the community has a heart.

Decency is Notice - 1 part of 1 meaning of Decent

Blog topics:
A mother who's loved likes to be recognized with a visit, a call, or a card on Mother's Day, regardless if with a token gift and she does need to know she's appreciated every day. Acknowledging people to show they have a place in the world and they are not anonymous and unknown is real to them and the decent thing to do. Consumers of mental health often get what psychiatrists cite as negative symptoms, which make many consumers unable to visually notice someone else through their facial movements, tone of voice, in active body language or in remembering names.

Utilizing Churches and Synagogues for Recovery

Spirituality gives a feeling of oneness among people and is a wholesome force for the more complete self. It can help people feel someone is guiding them with a greater strength to make the right choices which may be difficult socially and biologically. For others faith and churches can be divisive influences if they are not appreciated.

Following a Person from Afar

Stalking someone for fun, profit or just to know is an illegal situation in states like California. The U.S. belief in freedom and privacy does not coincide with the small world of conspiracy and theft of a person's identity builders or stealing another person's known or potential positions in society. How can checking in from afar on a past relationship with a person, a troubled family, or forgotten client be ethically and warmly done to give distant support when someone might need to hear from somebody nice without bothering their stability?
